IELTS Speaking Mock Test

How this mock works

The IELTS Speaking test has three parts and usually lasts about 11–14 minutes. In this online mock test, you speak into your microphone. Your answers are recorded so a human examiner can listen later and provide you with clear feedback.

Important: In Part 1 and Part 3, question text is not shown on the screen. You hear each question as audio — like a real examiner — and you can replay it. Part 2 shows a topic card you can read while you prepare and speak.

The three parts

Introduction & interview

About 4–5 minutes · Everyday topics

A short, friendly interview on familiar subjects — home, studies, work, free time, or daily habits.

Keep answers natural (a few sentences). Show clear, confident English — not a long speech.

Question text is hidden. Listen to the audio; replay if needed. Your answer is recorded.

Long turn (cue card)

1 minute prep · up to 2 minutes speaking

You get a topic card with a main prompt and bullet points. Use your minute to plan, then speak without stopping.

Cover the points, add details or examples. You may get one or two short follow-ups after.

You can see the topic card on screen. Your long turn is recorded in full.

Discussion

About 4–5 minutes · Deeper ideas

Continues the Part 2 theme with more general, thoughtful questions — opinions, comparisons, causes, or the future.

Give fuller answers than Part 1. Explain your thinking and develop ideas clearly.

Question text is hidden. Replay audio if needed. Each answer is recorded for review.

Equipment & environment

Get set before you buy

Microphone Working mic (headset or built-in). Allow browser microphone access when asked.

Headphones Hear Part 1 & 3 question audio clearly. Check volume before you begin.

Quiet room Cut background noise and interruptions so your recording stays clean.

Stable internet Stay connected for the full 11–14 minutes so uploads don’t fail.

Tip: Do a quick mic check first. Once you start the paid test, treat it like the real exam — stay until all three parts are finished.
