How this mock works

On or after January 2026, TOEFL iBT Speaking uses a new structure. The old four-task format (Independent + Integrated) is gone. Instead you complete two task types in one short section: Listen and Repeat and Take an Interview.

ETS lists about 11 scored items and roughly 8 minutes for the section. There is no preparation time before you speak — you respond right after each prompt. In this online mock, prompts are delivered as audio (and interview visuals where relevant). You can replay question audio when needed. Every response is recorded for human review.

The two tasks

Listen and Repeat

7 sentences · 8–12 seconds each · no prep

You hear one English sentence at a time — often tied to a simple campus or daily-life situation, sometimes with an image for context. After a short pause and a beep, you repeat the sentence as accurately and clearly as you can.

Sentences usually get longer and harder as you go. Focus on:

Exact wording and word order (not paraphrasing)
Clear pronunciation and final sounds
Natural rhythm — not robotic word-by-word delivery

Speak only after the beep, and repeat each sentence once. If you miss a word, keep going — don’t freeze or restart endlessly.

You hear the sentence; you do not read it as a script. Replay the prompt audio if allowed in this mock. Your repetition is recorded for scoring and feedback.

Take an Interview

4 questions · about 45 seconds each · no prep

You join a short simulated interview on an everyday topic (routines, campus life, technology, travel, preferences, and similar themes). An interviewer asks four spoken questions. You answer immediately — there is no planning time.

Strong answers are:

Direct — state your main idea in the first sentence
Supported — add one clear reason or short example
Natural — sound like conversation, not a memorized essay

Aim to fill most of the 45 seconds without long silences or filler openings. Stay on topic and keep speaking until time is nearly up.

Interview questions are audio prompts (not on-screen text). Replay if you need to hear a question again. Each 45-second answer is recorded for human review.
